To help you plan your route, we’ve divided the locations into two categories: Historic Center and Outskirts. For each garden, you’ll find a brief description of its features and all the necessary information for access.

A fragment of the landscape garden — now largely lost — that Giovanni Battista Martinetti designed for his own home: a small section featuring a decorated exedra, statues, flower beds, and large trees.

The inner garden of the International Museum and Library of Music, featuring banana trees and 19th-century trompe-l’oeil.
Holders of the Diverdeinverde ticket can visit the Museum at a reduced rate (€3) to admire the “boschereccia,” also known as the “Stanza Paese” or “Deliziosa”—a room found in late 18th-century Bolognese palaces that was decorated to resemble a real garden, a natural setting recreated specifically to “feel as if one were elsewhere.”

13. Vicolo Malgrado 3/2, Fondazione Zucchelli

A garden with a modern name but an ancient feel, belonging to the homes and studios of illustrious figures from Emilia-Romagna, with patches of roses, a beautiful wisteria, and ancient ornamental plants.
In the Zucchelli Foundation garden, you can stop for a snack at the Afrodita Chef refreshment stand.

All of a Sudden, a group exhibition of the best students from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, winners of the Zucchelli Competition and the Art Up 2025 awards. Curated by the Parsec research collective.

A new project for Carlo Zucchelli | Interaction Zucchelli | Colors that become sounds. Sounds that become images: a conference by Jadranka Bentini, president of the Zucchelli Foundation, Danilo Danisi, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, and Maestro Alessandro Branchi. The conference will include a presentation of the book, the result of a multifaceted project, Sons et Lumières thanks to a 2025 grant from the Emilia-Romagna Region, presented again during Art City 2026 in the garden. A video of the interactive and immersive installation will be shown inside the Foundation’s headquarters overlooking the garden, using a specially installed monitor.

The 17th-century building, now home to the Reuse With Love association, has preserved the garden’s scenic setting, complete with a shrine and architectural backdrop.

Secret Savenella, a space for regeneration, beauty, and creativity, where art and nature meet. On display are floral watercolors, experimental jewelry, ceramics, and vintage tailored clothing, inspired by the shapes and colors of Mother Nature.
Narrated tours of the underground Nevaia, led by the FAI Bologna Delegation. Tours will be held in small groups with limited numbers; reservations are required by emailing eventi@reusewithlove.org. Organized by Re-Use With Love volunteers to support solidarity projects.

The greenery of the urban residence of a famous Bolognese family, on the site of the Roman baths.
Illustrious figures in the gardens. Palazzo Albergati is the birthplace of Maria Giorgi, an important pianist and composer, long forgotten. Together with the 8cento association, we created a short sketch set in this place.

A public housing project on the ancient Via di Santa Caterina, renovated by the municipal administration half a century ago and managed by Acer, which preserves, hidden from the porticoed street, a dense greenery of exotic yet familiar plants, including palms, yuccas, aucubas, and Japanese medlars.

The cat garden, with its palm tree and honeysuckle pergola, is also part of a second Acer building, which houses the Bologna 1891 Animal Protection Association, run by volunteers.

A true secret delight in the heart of the city, featuring refined vintage furnishings by Freak Andò, roses, and boxwood shrubs. This year, the space is enriched with a green installation featuring moss “pearls” created using the ancient Japanese kokedama technique.

Intertwining Life: The Art of Uniting Plants and Moss, a demonstration workshop of kokedama, an ancient Japanese cultivation technique for reconnecting with the earth, in a true ritual combining aesthetics and plant care. Curated by @kokedamiri.

The ancient Corte Bellaria, a public space adjacent to the Parco dei Cedri, currently being regenerated by the City of Bologna, is home to a small, recently created garden with many plants that offer a unique and engaging sensory journey. Guided tours and workshops are offered by the Parco dei Cedri nel Cuore Association (Odv) and CSAPSA.

Pietro Maria Alemagna along the ancient Via Emilia: the history and traces of the past, the towers, the senatorial palaces, the houses, the churches, the gardens and the waters that flow through it, the illustrious inhabitants and the artists who left their works there.

The park, now serving the large school, features imposing trees and architectural elements from the ancient garden layout, which adorned the former Villa Banzi, where Gioacchino Rossini’s second marriage was celebrated.

BIOdiversity for health: discover an urban biodiversity center with a new bio-pond, insect and bat houses. Workshops are available in the morning, and the afternoon is free to visit. Part of the project promoted by the Municipality of Bologna with the support of Centro Antartide and Beebo, in collaboration with Orti Saragozza 142 (biodiversitaperlasalute.it).

A new countryside landscape created with great passion for the ancient garden of a noble residence in the plains: an unexpected green world on the border between Bologna and Zola Predosa, just steps from a modern industrial area. Tours will be led by master gardener Carlo Pagani, organized by the Zeula Odv Cultural Association.
